Values and Philosophy

Jess is a therapist & facilitator who works with clients from early childhood into adulthood, and is dedicated to creating radically accessible and welcoming spaces. She makes use of a gentle, grounding approach in her work to create a structured environment where her clients can explore difficult feelings and experiences without being overwhelmed by them. Jess makes use of trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and evidence-guided approaches to therapy including a mix of psychodynamic, attachment, and mind-body connection modalities. She believes that all people deserve to feel belonging and safety within their bodies, their relationships, and their communities. 

Areas of Focus

Jess specializes in a number of areas, including: adoption, attachment challenges, grief and loss, early childhood trauma, and social skills challenges. Jess also has expertise in working with LGBTQ+ young people. Jess works with individual clients from early childhood through emerging adulthood, families, and parents. 

As a therapist, Jess makes use of trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and evidence-guided approaches to therapy including a mix of psychodynamic, attachment, and mind-body connection modalities. She has particular training in attachment theory, family systems theory, and SMART (Sensory Motor and Regulation Therapy), a modality that utilizes the mind-body connection to address trauma.

Experience and training

Jess Levine completed her Master's in Social Work with a concentration in children and families from the Erikson Institute in 2017. She completed clinical internships at Erikson's Center for Children and Families and Jewish Child and Family Services. Jess has worked in community mental health and private practice settings providing individual, family and group therapy, as well as professional learning for other mental health professionals. She also has experience in home visiting with pregnant and parenting teens and young people, and school settings supporting preschool and early childhood students with social-emotional challenges. She completed the foundation level of SMART, an evidence-based treatment for trauma that utilizes the mind-body connection to support clients in the healing process.
